May 22, 2023 · LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas Sexual Assault Prevention & Education Center (SAPEC) is seeking faculty, staff and graduate students to volunteer their time for the Jayhawks Give a Flock bystander intervention program. SAPEC needs at least 200 volunteers to facilitate one to two group sessions on Sunday, Aug. 13, and Saturday, Aug. 19. During Hawk Week, all new first year, undergraduate freshmen will participate in Jayhawks Give a Flock (also called Flock), KU's bystander intervention program. The program provides participants with skills and tools to identify behavior that puts others at risk for violence, victimization, or perpetration.Jayhawks Give a Flock is a bystander education and training program developed for college students. Students participating in this program will gain with the knowledge and skills to take action when they see behaviors that put others at risk for sexual assault.Jayhawks Give a Flock, SAPEC’s first education initiative, encourages students to speak up when seeing behaviors that may put others at risk for sexual violence. Jayhawks Give a Flock is an hour-and-a-half long workshop open to KU undergrad and graduate students.
